Photos of my city

Hello everyone! As a photography enthusiast I wanted to share with you the city of Mersin I can see through my viewfinder. As a person born and raised in this city, of course, my perception of Mersin is quite different than my wife’s. Here are some pictures that I took throughout the years.

Witam wszystkich! Jako entuzjasta fotografii chciałem podzielić się z Wami Mersin, które widzę przez wizjer mojego aparatu. Jako osoba, która urodziła się i dorastała w tym mieście, moje spostrzeżenia odnośnie Mersin różnią się od spostrzeżeń mojej żony. A teraz kilka zdjęć, które zrobiłem w ciągu ostatnich lat.

Moss by Izzet Butan

One of the most forgotten places in Mersin is, ironically, placed in the area surrounding the city center. Over the years the decreasing amount of by-walkers led to excessive growth of encompassing moss and seaweed. It’s not only the isolation from the crowd, but also a closeness of a vibrant city life that makes this place so magical.

Jedno z najbardziej zapomnianych miejsc w Mersin jest, o ironio, położone w najbliższej okolicy centrum miasta. Zmniejszająca się w ciągu lat ilość przechodniów doprowadziła do nadmiernego rozrostu wszechobecnego mchu i wodorostów. Nie tylko odizolowanie tego miejsca od tłumów, ale również bliskość przepełnionego energią miasta sprawia, iż to miejsce wydaje się magiczne.

Stary diabelski młyn znajdujący się w Wesołym Miasteczku w Mersin. Jego główną zaletą jest dodawanie dreszczyku emocji do każdej przejażdżki za pomocą metalicznych dźwięków, starości i poczucia podjęcia nieprzemyślanych decyzji J

Sun shines over us by Izzet Butan

I felt once more how simple and frugal a thing is happiness: a glass of wine, a roast chestnut, a wretched little brazier, the sound of the sea. Nothing else.

Surrounding calmness of this place is unbelievable, especially when I add that it’s located just behind the Hilton Hotel. Fisherman’s hut with a small turkish flag waving to the sound of wind and the boats on the coast remind us that Mersin is, above all, a port city.

Otaczający to miejsce spokój jest wyjątkowo zaskakujący, szczególnie jeśli dodam, iż to miejsce położone jest zaraz za Hotelem Hilton. Chatka rybacka z małą flagą turecką powiewającą do melodii wiatru, jak i łódki obecne na brzegu przypominają nam, że Mersin jest przede wszystkim miastem portowym.

This rocky beach is placed just outside of Mersin, close to the fisherman’s village named Karaduvar. Every single year those beaches become a nesting site for a local endangered species of turtle – Caretta caretta. This species’ weight is the approximate of 200 kg with a length of 100 cm!

Ta kamienista plaża znajduje się w najbliższej okolicy Mersin, niedaleko rybackiej wioski Karaduvar. Każdego roku plaże te stają się miejscem lęgowym dla miejscowego zagrożonego wyginięciem gatunku żółwia - Caretta caretta. Osobniki tego gatunku ważą ok. 200 kg i osiągają średnią długość 100 cm!
